The Hideout · Pocono Mountains
Jacuzzi, steam shower, game room, firepit. Two hours from the city and a lot more than you'd expect from a Poconos rental.
The house
The Lakeview sits inside The Hideout, a gated four-season community in the northern Poconos. Vaulted ceilings, honey-colored pine, and a stone fireplace that does most of the work on a cold night. The kitchen opens into the living and dining space, so cooking, eating, and sprawling out all happen in the same room — which is the point.
The lake is two city blocks away. The kayaks and paddle boards are already here, on the rack out back. In winter, the ski and tubing hill is a few minutes inside the gates. You do not need to plan anything. That is what the house is for.
Four-season community
The Hideout runs its own ski and tubing hill, so you can be on the slope in the time it takes most people to find parking. Come back, run the jacuzzi, and let the fireplace do the rest. Bring all-wheel drive — the driveway is steep when it snows.
Trails dry out, the woods go green, and the community empties out. Spring is the best value on the calendar and the best time to have the trails to yourself. The screened porch earns its keep the first warm weekend in May.
Two lakes, sandy beaches, outdoor pools, tennis and sports courts — all a few minutes from the door, all inside the gates. The kayaks and paddle boards are on the rack, ready to go. Nights are for the firepit, the hammock, and s'mores you'll regret in the morning.
The Poconos in October is not a subtle thing. The trails turn over, the air sharpens, and the firepit stops being optional. This is the season the screened porch and the indoor fireplace trade places — coffee out there in the morning, fire in here at night.
Inside
The after-a-long-day reset. Year-round, and better in the cold.
A touch of spa you don't expect to find in a house in the woods.
Stone hearth, real wood. The centerpiece of every cold evening here.
Ping pong, foosball, arcade, darts. Rainy-day headquarters and the site of many friendly rivalries.

For the afternoon you decide to do absolutely nothing.
On the rack, ready to go. The lake is two blocks away.
Everything you need to cook for eleven, opening straight into the dining room.

In snow, we recommend it. The driveway is gravel and gets steep in winter, so all-wheel or four-wheel drive makes the last stretch a lot easier from roughly December through March.
The pools, beaches, and outdoor courts are free to use during your stay. A handful of amenities carry a small nominal fee depending on what you use.
No — The Lakeview is a pet-free home. We keep it that way for guests with allergies.
